Christmas Wishlist

Okay guys here's what Ive been dying to get this Christmas.  For my Buzznet Secret Santa if you already chose a gift for me, cool, but then if youre still having a hard time you could refer to this. ;D For my friends, yeah real life friends, you must give me this gifts or else end of friendship. LOL.

Wish numero uno:

THATS THE BEST WAY OF PUTTING 'WISH' IN 'WISHLIST'.  Yeah plain wish.

Enough shits.  Here's what i want for Christmas(but of course what I really want is that hot piece of man meat above).

1.  Red/Blue shoelaces, just like this:

2.  anything with peace sign on it:

3.  GUITAR PICK NECKLACE

well not excatly these necklaces, but you could buy me a pick, I'll make the necklace myself, haha.

BASICALLY THATS IT.

WELL ANYWAY I DONT REALLY WISH FOR ANYTHING THIS CHRISTMAS (EXCEPT FOR HAVING WILLIAM BECKETT) I ACCEPT ANY GIFT, THE BEST GIFT YOU COULD GIVE ME IS FRIENDSHIP IM NOT THE MATERIALISTIC FRIEND. IM OKAY WITH A 24 HOUR CONVERSATION AS A GIFT. NO SHIT. BUT YEAH FRIENDSHIP IS PRICELESS THATS WHY ITS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN ANY GIUFT I WILL EVER RECEIVE.

AND THE BEST WAY TO CLOSE THIS.

(500) Days of Summer

Saw the movie just yesterday at the theatre, Ive been having withdrawal syndrome for the past months imagining myself sitting on the theatre with some special guy arguing about the movie.  Yes because I live in the past it only came out this week. Okay here goes what I can say about the movie..

Plot.  Its a story of a boy meets girl, girl meets boy, but then its not a love story, its a story about love.  Haha.  Yeah Basically thats the tagline.  Summer Finn, doesnt believe in love, relationship and all that fairytale nonsense, the narrator mentioned its because of the disintegration of her parents marriage.  While Tom Hansen is otherwise, he invisions himself spending the rest of his life with the woman he loves, his soulmate, the narrator(whom is very helpful in giving understanding to the background of the plot) mentioned that it stemmed from his addiction to British pop music and the misinterpretation of "The Graduate." So when Tom meets Summer he fell in love with her and he decided that shes the woman hes going to spend his life with, shes the one.  Summer on the other hand dont make it clear to Tom the status of what they have, they hold hands, they had shower sex but then according to Summer, theyre just friends, which Tom angrily replied, "friends, my balls."  The story progresses through back and forth happenings within the 500 days Tom had known Summer.  Its quite unique because if youre going to sit there starting on the middle of the film you absolutely wont get the tiny details, those tiny big details that are actually significant to the plot, on how he was madly inlove with her, their arguments about Ringo Starr, Nancy and Sid and how they pretended they own Ikea.  I really like how they made the movie, the color, the plot, there are some small lapses by the writer but then it was quite consistent.  I also like how Tom have her little sister as his voice of reason, telling him to weigh his decisions. It was a feel good movie all right. Its not really that unhappy ending because in the end they learn fro each other.  Oh by the way the ending, Summer married a guy she met at a deli while shes waiting for Tom and that broke Toms heart.

Zooey Deschanel as Summer Finn.  Her blue eyes blend with the movies color tone.  Shes not really a remarkable actor, shes okay, she could act quite natural.  But yeah the role suits her.  I like her dresses in the movie and her 60's hair cut.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Tom Hansen.  He's a good actor, yeah.  He cool at being the bizzare romantic 'deep' guy.  I think I might fall for his smile.  So I reckon his performance was effective becasue I could feel his emotions, I could relate to his characters thoughts.  I love his shirts in the movie especially Joy Divisons, Love Will Tear Us Apart.

The Songs from the Movie.  The soundtrack is plain awesome.  Old times like Simon and Gurfunkel, Hall and Oates, The Smiths (thats how hey started their first conversation), Regina Spektor, yeah British music.  They chose the right songs for the scenes, like the scenes would be nothing without the songs on the background, perfectly suited.  And yeah for the next three weeks or so i might be listening to the soundtrack over and over on my headphones.

Best Movie Opening.  The movie opens with the authors note: The following is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental. Especially you Jenny Beckman. Bitch.

Overall.  Great feel good movie, maybe not the movie that you would watch on widescreen but yeah its a movie that provoke thoughts, discussions, debates and arguments. A movie that make sense, not the average romantic flick because it has the indie feel to it.  So if you love British music, indie films and Ringo Starr, you might not want to miss this movie.  I'll give it four and a half stars out of five.

PS;

There was scene at the park where Tom and Summer is having like a contest on who could say the word "penis" louder.  For the lulz me and my friend did it at Dunkin Donuts, that felt great.

for a more film critic way of reviewing the movie here.

Bored.

Im pretty mush bored of my life as of the moment.

Ive read two novels in one seating.

Made a playlist for my friends, Im about to burn them and Im also making a cover design for the cd.

Im sick.

Of my life.

Going back to the same routine every night, my job is nightshift.  I might get terminated of tardiness or Im not going to be regularized.

I dont care.

Coz nobody cared about me either.

Nobody listens.

But one.

He didnt really understood me, he just say he did.

Im floating in uncertainty.

I dont know what I want.

Except that I want somebody to sit beside me and tell me they care.

Or show they care by just sitting with me and listening.

Im tired.

Of chasing my dreams.

How can I do what I want when I dont even know what I want in the first place.

Or maybe i just need to grow up.

Or let go of all the grudge I keep against the society that isnt reallt treating me well.

Am I not likable?

Only my friends says, but they dont really like me either.

And I dont quite trust them now.

Theyre decepticons.

I need to find my self.

I need soul searching.

I need love.

PS: I f youve read this Im sorry theres nothing really interesting about this. And dont worry I'll probably get this over with tomorrow.

While Im busy with ilLike quizzes on Facebook...and missing Buzznet...

Okay so Im hooked on iLike on Facebook like my boss is addicted to Farmville.  I like challenging my musical education and yeah Im flunking most of them I need removal.  I need more 60's music encyclopedia, need to get more acquainted with Iggy and the Stooges, The Hollies, The Clash and others.  I should get to the highest level so I will have the right to brag about my music knowledge.  Gawd I wanna be Lester Bangs(or even just Cameron Crowe).

Im scouring already for my Christmas gift for somebody, Im actually worrying because Im not really good with gifts that is because I rarely give gifts I just receive them.

Whats with Leighton Meester and all these music videos??

Sorry this journal is so random, Im going to post a more comprehensible one when my cerebrum and cerebellum are already in place.  I'm kinda feeling high and lost as of the moment.

Any upcoming movie you are excited about?? I definitely want to check out that Zooey Deschanel movie, its, well..cute.  Ooops please done answer New Moon  by the way.

There are a lot of things I miss.  Numero uno would be the Buzznet that was Buzznet a year ago, or two maybe.  Everybody seemed sensible and full of wits.  Its sad that there isnt anymore discussion about things I like. And not saying that my generation is better than these kids here but yeah we might be its about generations pride bitches.  It might be that the kids here have move on to another level of pop culture growth and its not my era anymore. FUCK IM GROWIN UP.  Or Im stuck with these loud machines with guyliners screaming about my frustrations and rage.  Though indie kids are really looks artsy fartsy without the grim look on their face theyre still badass in their own way if you know what i mean.

And where's Jerry???Oh yeah on twitter and goodreads.

And Ikky's thought provoking journals??

I might see HalloweenII, that Rob Zombie shit on theatre next week.  Stop me if you want but you cant.

Who loves tennis?? Meeee.  Yeah.  Its quite boring but once you had playing big matches you'll learn the excitement of whacking.  And speaking of sports NBA season already started but I've never even seen any game yet.  I guess I'll just watch the play offs next year.

Currently playing believe it or not Michael Buble, I dont know if you know the guy but its standard. Just trippin.

And ohh Im loving my The Who converses.

Allyn over and out.

zzzzzz.

AM BITTER

what a bitter way of starting this blog is to...

bjakoaksjasauwbndmsdmsldopsdp[skm m,xc,vmuijdfhsdjk

okay..so the above picture doesnt really have anything to do with this..

so heres a story i like this guy, i never thought id like him it just sneaked up on me that yeah he's sweet and maybe i already like him. and im very vocal about it with my friend. of course friends we share everything to them  our innermost frustrations, our deepest thoughts and our cheesiest heartbeats. so i intoduced the guy to my friend because afterall he should meet my friend..

and then..

without me knowing this girl kept texting MY guy and well the rest is betrayal.

im actually thinking she didnt tell me about it maybe because she doesnt want me to be hurt, but if thats what she really intends well she shouldnt have flirted with my frivol guy friend, then she shouldve told me from the start that shes texting him and shes seeing him, she even went to the place we worked to see the guy, all that happened while i sit in my room thinking of how great a pair me and my guy would be.

FUCK.

this gir has this silent bitch reputation behind her, she steals every guy that her friends get, this happened before not just to one of our friends but for two others as i could sof ar recall.

OF COURSE IM JEALOUS GODDAMNIT. DEAD JEALOUS.

Right now i actually just wanna ignore them. anyway i dont have the right he's not my personal possession. So yeah, tahts how cruel life off line could be.

Age of Stupid Movie Review

Age of Stupid is a four year in the making film by Franny Armstrong the award winning director of One Day in September.  Major point of the film is not to confuse viewers with statistics about climate change, that is what sepeartes the film from most of the Climate Change centered film.  Less technicalities but full of moving tales from people who saw the devastation and passionate about working to somehow sustain the Earth for the future generations.  It mainly moves the viewer by laying out what will happen and what already had happened because of climate change.  It was portrayed as easy for an ordinary viewer to understand and to realize how his action will impact a great number of people.

The setting is the future where a man is left alone realizing what his generation had done to Earth, looking back at the major events, tracing back the history and along with it telling the tale of Climate Change to viewers.  The fun part are the animations showing the "statistics" of Global Warming, basically the facts are shown in analogies and examples which makes it not brain cracking to analyze.

Overall the movie is striking, unique and it will leave you asking yourself, "am i stupid?"

October 2, 2009

while we are waiting for a super storm to hit my country....

Hows life out there?  Have you felt the apocalypse already? I hope everyone is safe and have peace in their minds.  Well I havent been on here for the past weeks(although I use the music player here most of the time) because Im very busy with getting  a life and getting a long haired boyfriend. So here's what went on and what kept me occupied.

Love Game.  Yeah hell havent frozen over yet but im already listening to Lady Gaga.  My ears like them although im embarassed to admit that to myself, haha.  But speaking of love Im being royally puzzled by this guy Im liking he keeps on hanging out with us but he's not commenting on the issue that I like him even though Im a hundred percent sure that he knows about it already.  Though me and my friends dont vocally harass him into liking me and of course Im quite traditional enough to keep the obviousness of my desire to molest him(LOL) when were together.  So what to you think? Is he that friendly and Im just misinterpreting his over friendliness?? Fuckit.  Its hard to decipher his feelings towards me since he's really hard to read guy. To give you like a background of how I met him, he drank from my drinking bottle coz he thought it was his. Haha.  He likes Kings of Leon and The Fray which gave me quite a bad impression about his musical taste but personality wise he's a silent water runs deep type of guy and a man of few words.  And he has long hair, longer than mines.  of course Im not that sure about my feelings to him also, I mean i like him but I dont know if Im ready to have a boyfriend again. So the drama...;D

Final Destination 4.  Fuck.  Its not worth the money or even my time.  The lead stars dont know how to act freaked out.  the first movie was sacred and it was being destroyed in front of the original fan of the original movie.  Its so devastating.  the scenes are becoming more surreal and the graphics are getting more and more lousy.  Not even gory. Not even thrilling.  the flash backs that are messing up with the premonitions.  A lot of unnecessary characters that should've been given extended appearances and expanded character overview but ended up as extras Im talking about the people in the death list.  It didnt even scared me a bit, I wasnt even grossed out about it.  i was just sitting there seeing the movie and not watching it.  I wont even give it a star.  the ending is the worst ending of a movie Ive ever seen.  I doubt if anybody in their sane minds even enjoyed it.

Apocalypse.  As the world might've known already, Phils was devastated yet again by another super typhon, good things our city is not directly hit but I did went home soaking wet for an hour because of it Im absent today at work because im pretending to be sick just so i could give myself a break from the world that revolves around punctuality.  back to the cataclysmic event it was really scary because it could happen anywhere.  if you want to help click this.

Currentlies:

Music:  Almost Famous movie soundtrack.  Im going to keep playing it for this whole month of October.  It has the magic to it beyond my words to explain.

Book.  Rolling Stone Album Guide.  I bought it at booksale for quite a decent price, with top artists from 1960-1991 and all of their albums with ratings to it.  So Im actually trying to listen to all the albums rated 5 stars under the genre that I like of course.

PS.

work rant.

You wont believe how unlucky I am to be working with a bunch of badly dressed bitches who think theyre really pretty.  I mean I dont dress up like Im posing for vogue and all but at least I know what looks good on a person and what not but them ugh its embarassing just looking at them.  Also theyre really insecure people theyre not even good towards me, theyre bullying me with upsetting words but i let it pass coz Im giving peace a chance but if my floodgates of anger breaks loose, theyre going to see what hell is like. Just because Im new they dont have the right to even judge me and make offensive comments towards me.  im a civilized person i have breeding I dont stoop down to their level of irrationality.  i dont talk foul only in my online journals. ;

September 11, 2009

While Im hating the rain outside..

How are you fellas? im actually having a good time off the net.  I notice this past days Im tweeting less and less but Im just taking time off to pretend I exist in the real world.  But they refuse to accept me so now im writing another journal here in Buzznet. A summation of the past week.

Buzznet Secret Santa.  Yaaay! Im joining this year! I love gifts especially when theyre really surprising like "what the fuck, I never thought you'd wrap gabe Saporta and send him all the way to the Phils for me" that type of reaction when you unwrap something.. Though I prefer gifts without wrapper, less waste people..:D And over the line surprises sometimes are annoying. But whateves we all love gifts, right?  I posted a video of myself for this, this must means I am really determined to join, haha.  Dont watch the vid, I have an accent!haha(When will people realize we all have accents).

Main Lines, Blood Feasts and Bad Tastes. A Lester Bangs reader.  Do you guys still remember this motherfucker?? we werent born yet during the time he stirred the rock scene, he's not a rockstar but he was equally influential.  Goddamnit he is the wittiest motherfucker rock journalism had ever known.  He died of OD also like most rockstars that time did. He's one guys with incredible balls and diss every band from Mick Jagger to The Beatles and could still be very credible.  Im not finished with the book yet(cant hardly wait to).  When Im over with it i will surely make a review.  For starters he was that dude Philip Seymour Hoffman played in Almost Famous.

District 9.  When was the last time I cried during a movie? Ugh that was when I watched My Girl(the first one where Thomas J died).  that is until I watched District 9 on theater.  Its very wierd for a movie not to be very Hollywood.  Peter Jackson is one man I admire9from being b grade horror director to Lord of the Rings) and Im always a Weta fan.  The movie itself was a moving piece because of how they portrayed the main character Wikus.  He's a good man, good husband and all.  But luck is a bitch that he transformed into a being that made him good as dead. The part where he told his wife he's not giving up pushed my tears out of my eyelids.  Fuck.  Itw as embarassing sobbign on theatre, I feel like everybody heard it.  And also I love the color of the movie.

You Turn The Earth.  Greenpeace launched its new campaign marking the 100 year countdown to Copenhagen.  It was amazing working again to influence people. Ahhh.  I'd like to pretend Im somebody that matters so I worked with them at least I did somethign worthwhile.  And well there's a lot of lunches on hotels and seaside restaurants during the preparations and meetings.  There are free campaign shirts also. LOL

Trent Reznors guitar pick.  Dont say photo or it did not happen.  Cant transfer the photo from my phone I need to buy bluetooth device first, haha.  Well it did happen.  My friend went to the Last Goodbye Tour and scored Reznor's pick and he handed it to me when he saw me only to get it from me minutes after.  He just let me have a feel of it.  Didnt even try to play with it. ;( I did plan on stealing but yeah I have a halo hanging on my head so yeah.. he might change his mind and give it to me next week.  I wish.

Filmaker?? I really wanted to be one since people recognized indie movies.  Im actually having a chance to be one now.  Im friends with an indie art director and theyre working on a movie around my area.  We get to hang out and I told him I want to make movies he said why not.  But ugh I have a job right now, its quite decent and quite stable.  If I enter film making its not a sure bussiness like we have projects now and then but what happens when we dont have.  Im not really acquainted with thir world Im asking  around how things revolve in there.  hopefully I get to visit their set this coming days and see if it will attract me and see if I will give in.

Swing Life Away.  I didnt like this song at first but Jerry mentioned that she did so I listened to it over and over again(coz I trust her taste).  Then I gradually fallen into the spell of that song.  I started humming and singing it during my blank moments.  And the  I also realized I love the lyrics.  Lesson learned dont judge the song on first listen or even second or even third.  Songs are very powerful.

Meanwhile I finally found the photo ive been looking for a year..it was in flickr, a photo of me and my friends. Here it is:

See Im a hippy! ;D

Well I cant sleep I need to pour out this shitty confusions, frustrations and everythings that results from being myself at work.

How do you act in front of the person that likes you but you dont actually like? Err how do you know you like somebody?? Eurgh im not so good at this. I also feel bad sometimes when I shun him up right away when he tries to flatter me.

And how do you know that guys are actually telling you the truth?? That he likes you? Ugh.

can you actually like a person who belongs to thr group of society that you have something against??

IM TERRIBLE CONFUSED.

August 20, 2009

I finly know who Jackson Rathbone is....

while you are laughing at how ignorant I am..

Best of the Week - 08/20/09

though this week isnt the best, there are still bests about this week..

Sen. Chiz Escudero. He is btw the coolest political personality, almost like Obama, though his charisma and wit sometimes are mistaken as arrogance. He was once reprimanded for smoking in the non smoking zone on the hallways of Philippine Senate. Whats best about him this week is he confirmed to me on twitter than he's going to run for office in the coming 2010 election. For months now he was avoiding the questions by the press regarding his candidacy.

Weston Coppola. The hot goth god spawn of Nicholas Cage had taken over my fantasy this week. Euww. He sings for a shitty black metal reject band but his hotness is enough to make me forget about his band. So I found a photo of him pre-goth, SPOT THE SIMILARITIES.

Pride and Prejudice. Actually this could qualify even as best of all time under books category. I am rereading this Jane Austen classic just to exhaust my eyes before sleeping but I fell inlove again with Lizzy and Darcy's arguments slash flirtations. Absolutely delightful writing.

Double Dragon.  One of the most metal guys on twitter recommend this band.  Theyre quite neat at least I have new even though not refreshing music to listen to.  if you love metal look them up in the interwebz ;P

Old Dogs.  That Robin Williams, John Travolta, Seth Green movie.  It is a riot based on the trailer.  Its a reminiscent of Wild Hogs, from same producer so yeah.  It was funny though so unlike the Robin Williams on Flabber, its the naturally funny Robin Williams and John Travolta is the same as his character on Wild Hogs.  Seth Green I dont exactly know why he's in this movie but the dude could be funny so yeah.

Sean Bean to play Ned Stark on HBO's The Game of Thrones.  It is an adoptation of the GRRM saga.  click this for more.

rockedradio.  For Pinoys this might be great radio show to listen to and to follow on twitter, they have different topics every wednesday, political, social and relevant to youths.  hosted by the sharp witted Gang Badoy.

Rant

not related to the Chuck Palahnuik book.

Okay so today was a horrendous day. Almost like the worst day of work.  The people i work with are fucking with my mental health and are emotionally assaulting me.  I want to resign but that would be immaturish.  The problem is actually me not understanding them and them not understanding me.  Because they are shallow nonsense people who are full of themselves.

Lets start fro the beginning.. The most bullshit as of today is my supervisor, she's really expecting everything and everyone to be really attentive to her.  She's stressed out and so are we. okay lets just say that she has the right since shes the supervisor but why suddenly today? the previous days she's somewhat lax with all our mistakes. So I was askign her questions earlier, sort of clarifications actually and she's giving me a "shut up" glare like "you've been on my team for a week now and still you didnt know that?" Well if you're saying that my dear supervisor, its not actually entirely my fault that the system is totally fucked and this problem only occurred today and forrtunately it would be closing on thursday which is actually my day off. So fuck your system and also fuck you for the misinformation.

As for my teammates they are actually nice people, well some of them that is.  Theres a particular person who's really really nice to me but shouts at me when she's on presssure and Im trying to help her. I mean I understand her but I just dont liek people shouting at me because even my parents they never shun me up in high tone.

So all of this bull craps happening in one day resulted to a break down during the end of my shift.  well whatever people think what you want to think. And I'll do the same.

Good side is Im going to be changing team next week so another group people to fit in with.

Adulthood is complex.

Anyone else cried during their first month at work? LOL.

PS:

I had two previous supervisors already.  The first one is the nice guy, who makes Seth Rogenish funny faces, who sings like Patrick Stump(also a hug stealer like P. Stump) and really sweet towards me.  The second one is a lady who's strict but i liked her, she once asked me "Allyn are you drunk?" she jokes rarely. Haha. But she's got good supervisor qualities.  Both of them, I never had any negative isssues with.

GI JOE: The Rise of Cobra- A Movie Review(kind of)

This review may not be critical since Im not a GI Joe fan(you know its a guy thing and I love Barbie). But I ran to the nearby theatre 5 mins after my work believing its the last day of showing since someone told me its going to be ban by the *MTRCB. Anyway here are what I would say bout anything that I could remember bout it.

***spoilers(but everybody mightve seen this movie already so whatever!

Plot. Same old heroes and evil who wants to take over the world kicking each others arse story. The cool part about it is each one of the bad guys have connections to one of the good guys, the Joes, hence the movie tagline,"Evil Never Looked So Good",. Also it contains the cheesy lovestory of Duke and Ana who were sepearted by the death of her brother his bestfriend who turned out to be the brain of the nanomites innovation(every huge invention in movies should be prefixed with the syllable "nano"). Duke and Ana's reunion didnt turn out nice when they found out that they are each others enemy at least by affiliation because they still are in love with each other.  It also implied in this particular lovestory that love itself could override any programs that would be embedded in a persons mind. Hmmm.  It also includes the bromance between Marlon Wayans and Channing Tatum, naah but when they were invited to join the Joe's the plot basically started from there until the whole Commander Cobra resurrection. Well I cant say more about the plot since I see bodies flying in the air 100000mph when I think about it.

The Joes.  My favorite would be Scarlett whom ruined the idea of Joes since shes a Jane. She is smart, pretty, kick arse and redhead. Dennis Quaid failed as General Hawk, in my own opinion that is though it doesnt seem really noticeable when you double think about his acting and toughness.  Marlon Wayans throws in the funniest one liners all through out the movie. He is the center of the comedic aspect of the movie since he is indeed a funny guy(I enjoyed White Chicks dont give me that look pls).  Their gadets were awesome also with the headquarters and they were all serious bad guys ass kicker.

Channing Tatum as Duke. Well didnt expect a lot with him kicking, shooting and blowing peole up thats why I end up not minding his performance. Well except for the talking, he talks black and he's totally failing it but I dont mind that now.  So he dances in all his movies and take his shirt off.  In all fairness he did fit in the Duke role(frankly I want to take this statement back).

Fave Scene:  Snake Eyes vs Storm Shadow fight.  All Japanese style and was really awesome. And speaking of awesome Scarlett riding her bike during a chase in Paris ugh tha was really amazing like "I wanna ride that too!"

Fave Joe:  Snake Eyes.  I like his being enigmatic and all.  His ninja beginnings were also shown so you will actually get a view of his past though I didnt get why they have to hide his face. Enlighten me if you know please.

Overall.  The movie isnt what you would consider good in all the creative literary aspect of it, since visual effects eat up everything in it. It was enetertaining though, the chases, the gory fights and Channing Tatums black talking.  Well when you really think about it, it does have essence to it and maybe heart.  I did enjoyed the movie so 3 stars out of 5.

PS.

Except the Boom Boom Pow part(end credit song) everything is worth watching.

SUGARCULT

Love punk?? Love pop?? Ive got the band here that you would definitely love.

Forget what you think you know about Sugarcult. The Los Angeles, California-based quartet’s third album, Lights Out, is a modern rock revelation - and the band’s finest release to date. “This is a wake-up”, lead singer Tim Pagnotta screams on the album’s opening track.

Yes indeed. Welcome to the new world of Sugarcult.

Lights Out reveals the evolved sound & vision of an inspired band hitting their prime. A band that has, somewhat quietly, already sold close to a million albums worldwide (over 700,000 in the US alone) with their first two releases Start Static (2001) and Palm Trees And Power Lines (2004). “Start Static was our primal scream and Palm Trees was our coming of age; Lights Out is our turning point,” explains Pagnotta, the band’s chief songwriter. Together with lead guitarist Marko DeSantis, bassist/vocalist Airin, and drummer Kenny Livingston, the band has definitely arrived.

Known and respected as one of the hardest working bands in the underground, they’ve remained untouched by trends, never content to rest in a single genre. Sugarcult is a band that has toured relentlessly for the past 5 years - building a dedicated domestic and international following. Most recently as the opening act on Green Day’s American Idiot tour (in US and Japan), the mainstage of Warped Tour, the main stages of legendary UK festivals such as Reading, Leeds, and Glastonbury; Japan’s Summer Sonic Festival; as well as top-billing on the coveted Take Action Tour and their own successful headline tours. Lights Out is an album that covers diverse sonic territory, but always remains on course; with a distinct balance between classic songwriting and forward thinking: From the hard rock of “Dead Living” & “Riot” to the haunting ballad “The Investigation” to the classic pop of “Shaking” to the dynamic post-punk of “Los Angeles”, “Explode” and “Made a Mistake” & the infectious swagger of the first single “Do It Alone.”; Lights Out makes no apologies.

“Do it Alone” is about the sometimes joyful but often tangled mess of loveless sex. “I got time just to waste, if you would be my new escape,” sings Pagnotta, whose lyrics throughout the album reveal the pros and cons of one-night-stands and one man’s flawed attempt to avoid serious relationships. “We talked early on about wanting to make a concise 11-song album that would go places that we hadn’t gone before as a band,” Pagnotta explains,“We narrowed down a batch of 25 songs. A number of them were about relationships, sex & regret - but at the same time, we wrote songs like “Out Of Phase,” which is about feeling disconnected from the modern world and “Los Angeles,” which is a love/hate song about this city that in many ways defines who I am.” DeSantis sees all of this as a recurrent theme, “People have love/hate relationships with themselves, their lives, their careers, even with love itself! We made a record about it.”

Pagnotta admits, “While making this record I realized that there really is no such thing as perfection in life. I’ve embraced the beauty of imperfection so much now, that I deliberately had math equations with wrong answers tattooed on my arm recently, as a constant reminder to myself.” While the lyrics on Lights Out form a sort of thematic—and for Pagnotta, personal—arc, its music is the refined, propulsive wallop that drives the point home. Once more working with Palm Trees producer Gavin McKillop (PiL, The Church), and mixed by Tom Lord Alge (Weezer, Fall Out Boy, Marilyn Manson, Oasis), the band make the three-chord pop song sound like a study in modern-rock history - past, present and future.

DeSantis says, “Some of our biggest influences are bands that have always kept moving forward: artists like Elvis Costello and The Clash— that’ve placed some kind of value on their legacy, not just the immediate future,” he says. “We’ve come to realize that each album we make, each song we write, is going to be around a lot longer than any of us ever will.” All in all, Lights Out sees the band transcending their influences and rightfully coming into their own.

Lights Out is Sugarcult’s defining album and one that proves this band is ready to move out of the shadows of best-kept-secret and into the spotlight; Maybe they should have called it: Lights ON!

OKAY so thats another article from the badns website to give you guys more detail description of the band. On a personal note,ehehe.. Sugarcult is like a band thats sort of still growing up.  They sound easy to the ears, their songs makes you see stories in your head, stories that happened to you. Uhmm they are quite relatable. Like most pop punk bands.  Sugarcult sounds kick ass with distinctive sweetness to it!!!! yeah!!

The Spill Canvass

Just chilling on a lazy Saturday morning. Need a laid back sound track?? Read:

Nick Thomas - Vocals,

Guitar Dan Ludeman - Guitar, Vocals

Joe Beck - Drums

Landon Heil - Bass

The Spill Canvass story started with the talented Nick Thomas, While growing up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Thomas recorded his first songs at age 15, funded by his father who strongly encouraged his son's evident musical talent. Although Thomas admits that results of those studio sessions were "atrocious," the fledgling singer-songwriter honed his largely acoustic-based style playing solo shows in and around his hometown. After performing with a few local bands, Thomas returned to his solo music with conviction, dubbing it The Spill Canvas. After sending demo after demo to labels around the county, the music caught the attention One Eleven Records owner Brad Fischetti. The result of that record deal was the raw and emotive Sunsets and Car Crashes, which began to amass Thomas eager fans around the country. After officially transitioning from solo act to full-fledged rock band, The Spill Canvas recorded their dynamic debut full-length, One Fell Swoop, with producer Ed Rose (The Get-Up Kids), releasing it on One Eleven in May of 2005 to great acclaim, eventually selling over 50,000 copies.

While on tour in support of One Fell Swoop, The Spill Canvas caught the eye of Sire Records President Michael Goldstone at New Jersey's The Bamboozle Festival in 2006. Ready to take the next step forward, The Spill Canvas formed a partnership with Sire, which Thomas believes will provide the band with the promise of career longevity. The band came out with a new five-song EP tiled Denial Feels So Good in May and they are about to enter the next phase of their career with their new full-length, No Really, I'm Fine, which was recorded by Neal Avron (Fall Out Boy, The Wallflowers, Yellowcard) in Hollywood, California, last spring. "It was such an easy choice to pick Neal to produce our new record because he's consistently produced so many great records over the years," says Beck. "He brings out the absolute best in you as a performer," adds Thomas.

The result is an album that's finally as varied as the band's collective influences, which range from Van Morrison to Otis Redding. For example, the hypnotic rocker "One Thing" shows how much the band have grown as musicians since the release of their last full-length; "Bleed" has a psychedelic '70s rock feel that's effortlessly recontextualized into a pop context; and "Saved" is an epic anthem that's got a chorus so huge it's hard to believe it can be successfully encoded in ones and zeroes. "This time around we had so much more time in the studio and I think that really allowed us to blossom creatively," Thomas explains. "We got to make beats by like hitting stuff with hammers and banging pillows on the wall and stuff like that. There were no boundaries to what we would experiment with."

To date, the Spill Canvas have toured with bands like Motion City Soundtrack, Straylight Run, Mae and The Plain White T's, and graced the stages of Austin's annual music festival SXSW, New Jersey's The Bamboozle and the Vans Warped Tour in both 2006 and 2007. ("We love Warped Tour, says Ludeman. "What could possibly be better than an event that caters to such a wide variety of music lovers?") Admittedly, the the band, who was named one of Alternative Press' "Bands To Watch in 2007," may not exactly be living next-door anymore, but they have preserved the sensibility of their humble beginnings. Notorious for their personal relationship with their fans, The Spill Canvas may spend most of the year on the road, but their hearts have never left Sioux Falls.

"We come from is such a simple place and when we'd get to those coastal communities like New York or Seattle, it's almost like an oversaturation because everybody is in a band and everybody's the next big thing," Thomas explains when asked why the band members all still live in South Dakota when they're not on the road. "There's no strings, there's no flashiness to the concepts," he continues, mirroring Bruce Springsteen's attitude about New Jersey or Van Morrison's feelings toward Belfast, Ireland. "Our writing is just very honest," he adds, "almost too honest sometimes, which I think it's kind of cool."

"With this record you can definitely tell we've matured as musicians and how much Nick has improved as a lyricist; that's going to happen with as much as we went through when we were supporting One Fell Swoop," explains Beck, adding that despite the members are barely of legal drinking age, they're old souls. "We grew up really quickly over the past few years and for the first time we're experiencing life to the fullest." That said, even if the band ended tomorrow, the Spill Canvas would still be proud of their accomplishments. "I think we've already completed a lot of dreams and while we do have new ones that form every day, t I think at the end of the day you just have to hope for the best," Thomas summarizes. "I'm from South Dakota and look at what we're doing; sometimes this all feels like a dream."

**So yeah the article came from the bands official website.

Intellectual Orgasm: DREAMS

Note: In my unending quest of intellectual sexiness I figured I should chronicle what's inside my mind. So this series of journals(if I could get the effort to make the next ones) would be like a pensieve that I could put my thoughts into and you would be Harry Potter who gets to take a peek of these precious but sadly irrelevant nonsense fruits of boredom and procrastination. For the virgin topic the first would be DREAMS. Btw every journal comes with songs that are somehow relevant to the journals theme.

It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live. * Albus Dumbledore (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling)

My grandparents are really fund of listening to AM radio, they tune in to radio news program almost every day and night. When I was six I was with them and everytime they listen to the news programs I would listen too with all fascination and desire to be a radio news anchor simply because I thought they are really famous and they influence people.

Came my early elementary days(in US grade school) I did well at science that it got me wanting to be a scientist though I dont exactly know what they do all I know back then was they were responsible of inventing great things that hugely impacts humanity.

As I aged I get to know other things that wasnt really that essential to livingWhen I was 12 I wanted to be a rockstar because a lot of people worships them they're like gods to some die hards. They make money, fame and glory with their music. And their music is nothing but what they feel, its like sharing a part of themselves to the world. It looked damn easy to live a life they had.

I stepped into the mayhem known as high school and trying to seek a place where I belong I found myself in the school publication. I am not a good writer it just happened that in absence of decent writers I was chosen. To make up for my insufficient writing power I became a really prolific writer. Enjoying my far fetched ideas I dreamed of seeing them in print and it wasnt because of fame or money that had me wanting it, this time it was because of fulfillment.

Then came the torture filled university days, I took up BSIT because it sounds cool. Normally or maybe costumary the first semesters would be an uphill climb and I even wanted to quit and climb another mountain. But eventually I woke up dreaming of revolutionizing the internet just like Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim of Youtube.

Now I have a job and its like an incorpation of all the dream jobs that I had. I get to use my communication skills and my lets say technichal skills. Its funny how most of sets the exact things and under inevitable cirmcumstances never get to do them. Its not because you dreamed of becoming a rockstar you'll attain it, 80% of the chances you wont but dare to look at your other potentials and work your ass off for it. Calculate the probability of the certitude of you grasping it.

As for me I might've given up for the obviously unreachable dreams but I still dream of being a published writer. I guess there must be something that you have to grip tightly and never lose. And with it you'll realize the ultimate essence of the word, dream.

Queso

Biography:

Cheese was formed in '94 as something to do after classes. After some change in the band roster, by '98 cheese was playing regularly in clubs and underground concerts all around the metro(Manila) and in different provinces. The same year they recorded their two-song self-titled E.P. fine and the way, they signed with Warner. They have released two albums under Warner Music Philippines and iand their third album was released independently.  They have garnered awards for album of the year and vocalist of the year and the listeners choice award for their sophomore effort Pilipinas in the Nu Rock Awards 2002. Later they changed their name to Queso. As of now they are busy in the studios working on the next album.

The band is considered underground even though a lot of rock enthusiasts are already familiar with the bands music.  The bands song titles are quiet wierd but they have english lyrics. They dont really get that much recognition because of their genre but their sound is just awesome that it defines the local underground hardcore rock in the Philippines.

Locked and loaded, the band is poised yet again to smash barriers and open minds with their “don’t give a f*

ck” attitude and music.

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Basically, the Red Hot Chili Peppers started as throwback funk/punk band that was actually unknown commercially. Nevertheless after releasing their eponymous album in 1984, trashing the guitarist and drummer from the aforementioned album the Chili Peppers begun to find their groove and kick in. Freaky Styley was their first successful album but Hillel Slovak died in 1988 because of heroin overdose which prompted Jack Irons to leave because he didnt want to be in a band with people dying in it. John Frusciante came in and so was drummer Chad Smith. The band didnt experience heavy commercial success until 1991's Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Blood sugar encapsulates the funk that was developed mainly around Flea's ridiculous bass abilities, Smith's simple but clean addictive beats that seems to follow Flea's bass, Kiedis' fast spoken rhymes vocals and Frusciante's guitar that puts everything in a harmonious groove. As the bands music evolved and lost Frusciante for some time because of drug addiction, the Chili Peppers experimented on other guitarists such as Dave Navarro. But the band didnt get the groove that they use to have with the members they had in Blood Sugar. Frusciante returned after extensive surgery and rehabilitation and emotional confrontation with his good friend Kiedis. They went on to begun reunite and record Californication in 1999, a much more textured melody driven album which brought them to the widest audience they ever had. By The Way was released in 2002 and Stadium Arcadium in 2006. At press time(haha) there are no news of an upcoming album as the members are exploring music on their own.

What made RHCP great is the distinctive funk/rythm/bet that their music contains, their lyrics that are absurd but meaningful and the influence they had to other bands and their fans. They wrote songs about getting your shit straight, political issues, drug addiction, Magic Johnson and California. Listening to them and watching them progress is plainly amazing.

sex, drugs and fame

prerequisite read but for lazy people proceed.

So the sex videos spreading in the video stores selling like hotcakes reached the senate yesterday. The commitee on family, child and women violence(I hope I had it right) held a public hearing about the sex video scandal(I told you to read the previous journal) because theres no clean laws against the person that videotapes the act without the woman knowing it therefore the case is treated as violence against women(note I dont have considerable law background). The abused(Katrina Halili) and the accused(Dr. Kho) arrived at the senate amazingly hoping to explain lots of things to the public.

The case made a big fuss because for most reason they are famous, second it involves drug use(Kho stated they are both under ecstasy) and it prompted a need to have a tangible law against sex videos, uploading it and spreading it.

Drug use had entered the picture after Kho claimed that Katrina was responsible of making him a drug dependent. And he also stated that he got his drugs from a very influencial person. This third world kind of drug drama really happens, unbelievably, just like in the movies. So judging on the following video I dont think they are both sane enough to do it. After this issue surfaced people are now saying that a lot of celebrities are actually drug users and lots of celebrity are reacting about it. So now the sex scandal stemmed into a serious drug problem that authorities have to control. Complex is an understatement, really.

Then came in the laws about cyber assaults, I took computer ethics in uni and all I can say is there has never been any strong law against cases like uploading somebody's sex video for maniacs to fiest upon. Even oral defamation in blogs is a weak offense. Privacy laws are not also implemented considerably. Internet is vast that made it even more painstaking especially when the lawmakers have other things to worry about like upcoming elections. Now its not just sex craze, its about drugs as well. Very very interesting.

I now watch news everyday. But mind you I havent watched the sex video itself. I have Careless Whisper as my last song syndrome but I felt bad about the two for having to explain to the whole country why they had sex.

Amidst all the drama it has cause there are funny comments like a senator denouncing Kho's 'pervertism'. I mean seriously senator check your vocabulary or even just use spell check. The exchange of accusations amongst their family on tv are also horribly hilarious that they themselves are facing libels. A lot of names had been thrown in the pit of dignity ruining dirt. I cant wait for a month when people will stop talking about this and let those poor lives live outside the public scrutiny.

Lastly here's what people do to perverts. Put out that fire, dude.

Over and out.
